Cold Laser Therapy

What Conditions Can Cold Laser Therapy treat?

Cold Laser Therapy is a non-intrusive treatment that can be used to reduce pain and stimulate healing of tissue. Low level laser light waves are used to penetrate deeply into the skin, optimizing the immune responses of our blood, which has anti-inflammatory effects and helps treat conditions that include:

  • Acute and chronic pain
  • Ligament sprains
  • Muscle strain
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Back pain
  • Bursitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Pelvic and vaginal pain

Cold Laser is typically not used on its own. It’s used in conjunction with other therapies, such as trigger point release, myofascial release and/or visceral mobilization

How does Cold Laser Therapy Work?

With Cold Laser Therapy, light penetrates down to the cell and is absorbed in the mitochondria of the cells and changes the PH from acidic to alkaline and starts dividing the cells. It increases ATP production (fuel for the cells) and the production of nitric oxide, which expands the blood vessel. There is also an increased anti-inflammatory response.

At Rebalance, we use ML830 microlight Class IIIb laser. This:

  • Does not produce heat or electricity
  • FDA approved in 2002
  • 830 nm: deepest penetration but least absorption of light
  • 90 mw of power
  • Patented
  • Penetrates about 2.5 inches
