Featured Exercise: Needle and Thread Stretch

This is an excellent stretch for improving shoulder, shoulder blade, chest, thoracic/upper back, mobility and rib mobility. Rebalance therapists recommend this stretch often as an adjunct for clients to perform at home from the manual therapy we do in the clinic.

Start on all fours with your hands aligned under your shoulders and your knees aligned under your hips. Thread one arm underneath the other and let the arm stretch to the side. Let your head relax and focus on breathing into the back of the rib cage. Hold 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then slide the arm out and rotate your upper body so that you are looking up towards your fingers. Feel a stretch in the chest and shoulder. Hold this position for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Precautions: Frozen shoulder, shoulder impingement or any discomfort that you may have in the shoulder region. Please consult with a Rebalance therapist for modifications and further instructions.
